Pilates is a system of physical and mental conditioning that
encourages strength, length, and flexibility utilizing principles of
breath, core conditioning, flow, control, and precision. One of the
main focuses of Pilates is training the deeper core stability muscles
of the abdomen and of the main joints of the body that are essential
for alignment and stability of the entire body.
Pilates workouts can vary from therapeutic workouts to intense fitness
workouts. Therapeutically, it is beneficial for rehabilitation from injuries, poor posture, chronic pain and chronic
strain conditions including back, neck and knee pain.
Our focus at Embody is on the therapeutic use of Pilates. Pilates
exercises are utilized to improve core strength, to re-educate
muscular firing patterns, and to improve postural alignment restoring
the delicate balance between strength, length, and alignment.
The emphasis on core conditioning while using biomechanically sound
principles of alignment throughout the body makes pilates an excellent
addition to help each client reach their individual functional and
fitness goals.
Rates for Therapeutic Pilates sessions are included in the Yoga Therapy packages. Sliding scale prices may be available upon request.
